My husband was diagnoised with multiple meyeloma in Oct'08 he is 57 yrs. old. They found a tumor that ate his vertebrae he had surgery where they put rods in T1 thru T6. Thalidimine was started - he had a very bad reaction fever, rash and swelling needless to say med was stopped. He is now on his thrid round of Chemo (Velcade)...On Feb8th he was admitted to the hospital for a partially collapsed lung.Has anyone ever heard of this??? They are not giving us an explaination as to why this has happened..we are told it is not from Chemo, and Surgery did not cause it..but basically this is the way it is...you might get better or maybe not! He has shortness of breath, wheezing and now coughing...Oncologist told us if the lung stays like this he will not be a candidate for a bone marrow biopsy...Another MRI was done on Friday and today we go to Surgeon to see if maybe another tumor has developed and is pressing on the phrenic nerve.  Has anyone ever heard of this? Please help....
