My husband has been diagnosed with 203.0 multiple myeloma. His doctor said it's in the advanced stages.( 3 months to 1 year survival). He has recommended he start taking Revlimid. Has anyone had any experience with this drug? Were the possible side effects worth it? Thank you so much for any help you can give to help us decide if we should take it. My husband is 74 years old. |

I used Revlamid for about one year with great success. the only side effect for some people os slight numbness in the feet/hands. I did not experience these, but the drug was successful for only about one year. Good luck! |

I've been on Rev for a few months and have spoken with many who have been on it much longer...it's a great myeloma drug...most certainly it's worth trying. I'm not sure what you mean by 203 Myeloma...is that his M-spike number? What type of myeloma does he have? Is your doctor a specialist or a general onco? If you can get to a specialist like they have at the Huntsman, do it. A myeloma specialist knows myeloma and how to deal/treat its progression. I can't pound the table enough; if you're not seeing a specialist...and you have the means to do it...you should. Best of luck |

Hi Gloria, I am one of the clinical research coordinators for the myeloma program here at Huntsman. Based on your statement that your husband has advanced disease, Revlimid alone is probably not the best treatment approach because there's a good chance that he will progress on this treatment. As Doug C suggested, I would highly recommend a consultation with a myeloma specialist so that several possible options can be entertained. If he's in good physical health, he might be a good candidate for more aggressive treatment that could give him a longer and better quality of life. I hope that helps. Hi, Gloria, Another alternative treatmentis VDT (velcade +dexa + thailidomide)which I'm now being trated. It's effective for me. Please consultant your specialist for the best choice. |
