two months ago I had my blood work done, I don't know what my protein was the lasttime , but my lgg was 2300, I went to have more lab work done and this month my m protein is 1.6 and my lgg is 2600, Is this a normal progression of MGUS or are the numbers showing progression. (And how fast of progression.) the only pain that I really have is in my hands and I am getting really short of breath. The doctor did exray and suggests that I get a nerve study test done. She also asked if I had a MRI done of my neck. I'm not sure if that would have something to do with my hands or the mgus. I also have had a Echo and a EKG done. I haven't gotten those results back yet. I am worried about amyloidosis. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it

By definition, MGUS is a stable disease with small variations, so there should be very little increase in IgG.
We need more than two values, though, for us to be able to say whether or not we think the increase is significant. What were the numbers in tests before you got the 2300 result? For example, if the one before the 2300 was something like 2000, then the increase would be significant.
Also, if you provide us with more information on your serum M protein levels and serum free light chains, then we can better answer your question. We just need a little more information for us to be able to give you some insights.
Take care,

hello, thank you for getting back to me, the 2300 was my very first set of blood work that I had done and the 2600 is the second. I am going to see the hemotologist on Thursday, I want to get a copy of both sets of labs, I will be able to see what the m protein was on the first set.
Can Mgus cause carpel tunnel, my hands have been hurting me for about 3 months now.
thank you

Hi,
If you have carpel tunnel syndrome and MGUS, there is a possibility that you have primary amyloidosis. If this is the case, it most likely would require treatment.
