Hi Everyone,

This is Liza, I am here in USA. I have a question for everyone. My dad was here with me 2 month ago and he has been complaining for his back pain he did see a doctor at Thomas Jefferson and they gave him medication and said he has artherites after he left US in Dec. He got really sick and went to bankock to make long story short they diagnosed him with Multiple Myloma so now they want him to start his treatment ASAP with Bortezomia+Melphalan+Prednisolone. So the treatment is to expensive is any body know where I can get help if I can send him the medication from here.

Thanks,

Liza

Liza - I would suggest going to the cancercompass.com message board and asking the same question.  I think you'll have better luck there with this type of question since there are patients and caregivers from all over the world posting there.  This board is structured differently.  This is the only board I'm aware of where people who're experts in research and treatment of myeloma attempt to answer in case specific questions in general terms...since they really would need to evaluate the patient and run their own tests--a message board can only do so much.  It would be tough for them to make a recommendation or answer your question.  However, a patient or caregiver who has been in a similar situation of trying to fund a drug might be able to point you in the right direction.  I'm only a patient and could be wrong....the board  moderators might provide you with the answer you're searching for--I'm not attempting to speak for them.

I would also suggest you visit the Velcade website and see if the drug maker (Millennium and Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development) doesn't have something on their site that instructs patients and families what to do if they can't afford the drug.  Also check the IMF.  The IMF has many programs to help and they have toll free phone numbers for answering questions.  I've posted the links below:

Good luck

Doug
