I was dx. with Renal Cell Carcinoma 18 months ago...had cryoblation to kill the tumor. kidney was left in place and so was the tumor. NOT a decision i would make again...just for the record. Would now choose to have that tumor in a jar..not in my kidney! Grateful that it was a small tumor, 3 cm. so all looks ok on that front for now!
However, for the last year, i have had extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, lower back aches..and pain in my right foot. Had an xray on my foot..and a full body MRI in another country several months ago as part of an executive health check...said i had a slight fracture in metatarsal (not sure why, I am NOT a runner) and noted "bone marrow issue" in my foot and a lesion on L2 in my spine. they suggested another dedicated mri on foot and spine when i returned to the U.S. Didn't get foot done. but did have an MRI of the spine ...finding were first a met to the spine from the RRC...but then the doc that was scheduled to do the biopsy..had the mri read again and then decided it was an "atypical hemingoma"...so decided to do nothing at this time. usually i am very high energy so the fatigue is the hardest to deal with.. also, very high blood pressure that wasn't controlled by my meds. so went to the family dr. He referred me to a cardiologist where they did more blood work, echo, ekg, etc.
echo/ekg normal. blood work came back with the following:
PROTEIN (URINE) 3+
URIC ACID: HIGH (ONLY SLIGHTLY)
BUN 32 (slight high normal is 8-27
Protein Serum 5.6 Low
Albumin Serum 3.4 Low
Cardiologist said i didn't have a cardiac problem..thank goodness..and wants me to see a Kidney guy. Concerned about the protein drop in my urine and uncontrolled blood pressure, even with new meds. I don't have insurance...not by choice...can't get it at this point...so i am careful about what i chose to do next.
My question..yes finally...should i have a work up for Myeloma...because of the high protein in my urine...and bone pain? Has anyone experienced an issue with feet..or is it always spine and long bones? I read recently about a connection with Kidney cancer and Myeloma...i live surrounded by cotton fields...PESTICIDES everywhere...and we are on a well...but drink bottled water. Perhaps I am reading too much info online...that is dangerous as we all know..but i am very concerned about the fatigue...it is changing the way i live on a daily basis.
I am usually quite calm about the kidney cancer...think of myself as lucky that they found it so early...but still wanting answers as to why i feel so bad!
Why not have the myeloma workup? Take the same approach, "it can't hurt you in a jar." It's obviously on the back of your mind. I read something about a suspected connection to kidney cancer as well.
Good luck and I hope you don't have another beast to deal with
